Wow...31?? Really??

I turned 31 today and I have to say that I just DON'T feel 31. Well...then again, I never felt 30. I first point out that I am BLESSED!!! God has blessed me these 31 years with an awesome family. He has also blessed me only the way with some really great people who have made this life so much more enjoyable. At all the different seasons of my life God has placed people there to help guide me, make me laugh, teach me lessons, help me to learn more about myself, teach me to embrace the many differences that are in this world, and to overall make me who I am.
Who knows what the next 31 years will bring? Trust me I've tried to find out and no such luck! I hope that at least the next 10 years hold a husband and maybe a kid for me...but if the first 31 are any indication...well I may be flying solo. If that is so then I plan to have as much fun as I can. Yep, I know what your thinking, and yes I am using things like a Great shoe collection and traveling to great places around the world to fill a void...hey its better then becoming the crazy cat lady! HAHA!!! Well here's to another great 31. May they be just as fun (and God if your not so busy with all the famine, war, disease, bad economy, stupid people, and those that are just socially impaired, could you please send me a MAN before I'm 35!!!??!!!!)

Its Been A While

I've only missed one night of my pilates/yoga class since starting at the beginning of the year and I'm really starting to see some changes. I'm much more flexible, can do a lot more of the positions and exercises, and my left side that I have been having problems with for almost a year and an a half hasn't been hurting.  I can also see some differences in in my body...the best part!!! Besides trying to get my body in shape I've been pretty much just working. Things at school have been going really well. The state came in to observe our school and school district to renew our school district's accreditation. We passed, which is a great thing. I was very proud of our lil school and the education that we provide. The lady from the state came in to observe me and I was kind-of glad, I put a lot of work into my classroom and I was very proud of my kids. This semester some of my kids have really been a lot of fun to teach. I have a few that are very funny and some that are just a hoot to have in class. I have to say that one challenge has been the amount of grading that Ive been doing. I have 50 students and I have posted 29 graded assignments sine we went back on the 5th...I'm dying!!!

Besides work and working out my social life is the same old story..."Your really a cool girl but I just want to be friends." Yay for me!! I have a lot of good guy friends, I guess I just got another one. I again have no clue whats in store for me and God isn't filling me in. I'm really starting to really understand the statement "hindsight is 20/20." Oh well what is in the past is past and I'm not going back there. One of the things that I got from the whole online dating is that there are not a lot of good guys out there, the little things are just that little and they don't really matter in the grand scheme of things, and I had some really stupid and inconsequential things that I thought the person I would be with would have. Hey, you live and learn and thats what I'm doing. A friend of mine said tonight that she couldn't wait till all of this is over (being single) or Jesus comes back, or "the (elusive) one" comes around. I had to laugh at that. With my luck I have a better chance of Jesus coming back before I meet the "one." HAHA!!!! Well soooo glad that tomorrow is Friday and the weekend is here. I can't believe that in 4 days I will be 31!!!

Creative Journals and Weight Loss

Ok, so I'm super happy!! I've been watching what I eat, started back at my yoga/pilates class twice a week and walking at least twice a week as well. I have lost 4 lbs so far and only 3 more to go and I'm at my goal weight of 130. I feel better, and I can see some differences in my body. I know what your thinking, really thats not a lot of time and not a lot of weight, but I'm telling you I can see some changes.  So besides my weight, things at school are going really well!! We got a few new teachers and I was asked to be a mentor to two of them, I felt that was a huge compliment! Today we had a faculty meeting and I have to say that its so awesome to work at a place that feels so much like a small family.
I have a new project that I think that I'm going to undertake. I love scrapbooking stuff but have kind-of gotten up of the whole scrapbooking thing. I just love all the papers, embellishments, and fun shiny stuff that goes along with all of it. But since I found iPhoto books I'm in love so I don't do much scrapbook. So the dilemma is what to do with all of the adorable, cute, fun, funky stuff that I have collected?? Well let me tell you...I'm going to use it to make a really fun and cute journal. I'm a journal fan!!! I love notebooks, journals and I have a bunch. I have my regular journal, yep to write all of the stuff that I can't write in my blog...basically its all the private, rants, dreams, and scary craziness that makes me me..haha!!!  I also have a journal that I started to my future husband, I don't write in it often just once in awhile...who knows at the rate I'm going ti will never be read by anyone but me. And still there's more, a journal/notebook of my favorite poems and short stories, one on life lessons learned, a and a devotional journal. Yep, you guessed it, I like to write stuff down... oh and my blog is I guess a digital journal. So I figured I'm going to decorate my next one, here are a few of the ones that I found online that I really liked

So these are a few ideas to get me started. I will post some pics as I get some of it together. Besides that not much going on...I'm almost done with my nephews scarf and then I start on another one for someone else in my family. Well I'm off to dry and try to tame this mad mess I call my hair.

A look at "The Five Love Languages"

ok so I just sat down and in 2 1/2 hours read "The Five Love Languages." I had read some of it a long time ago but today I just couldn't put it down, this book was Awesome! It explained so much about myself and others. If you haven't read it, Read it!

I found out so much about myself and why I react to certain things the way I do. So just to share with you a bit I had read some of the book a long time ago when our church read through it for our adult Sunday school. We all took the little questioner to identify our love language. But it had been so long and I was curious if mine had changed since I was very young when I had last looked at it. Well I have to tell you that I was not all surprised at my love language, its quality time.  I value and feel most loved when someone is giving me their time and I also value conversation. My second highest scoring love language, are words of affirmation. This all really started to bring to light some of the things that I do and why I do them. I thought about all of the little notes that I like to give people and how much a card or spoken appreciation for a job well done goes with me and I realized that I do those things because that is how I feel value. There's nothing better then a little hand written note card telling someone that you were thinking about them, or something as simple as a good morning text.

My third highest score, and the one which I found just a bit surprising, was physical touch. Now those of you that know me know how I am about my personal space and I'm not a real touchy person but when I started to think about this it did make some sense. I'm not a touchy person but I started to think about how I am with others. The book explains that in most cases the way that you feel love, your love language, is in most cases the way that you respond to others when you want to show love. So someone who's love language is giving gifts will themselves give gifts because they know that when they get gifts they feel loved or appreciated. So I started to think about the people in my life and how I showed them that I loved them or that I cared, and even though I'm still not a huge all up in your personal space kind-of person I do often touch people in ways to convey appreciation, caring, or understanding. But overall my highest score was quality time and then words of affirmation.

Overall this was an awesome book and a great insight into what makes me me and also this information is so applicable to other relationships, not just romantic ones. I had also bought "The Five Love Languages of Teenagers" in the hopes that it would give me some insight into how my students feel loved. I was once told by a very wise man, who I'm pretty sure borrowed it from another wise man, that before you can really teach someone or lead someone they have to know you care, you have to earn the right to be heard. One of the biggest ways that we can earn the right to be heard is show them that we love them. To really do that we have to be able to speak the language of love, and know which of the love languages speaks to their heart louder than words.

I hope that this has encouraged you to get the book if you haven't read it, and if you have, to remind yourself to not only know the information but use it. Also, I really liked the way that the author talked about "falling into" and out of love, and how loving some or others is something that requires a conscious decision and work. Well just thought I would share.      -Till Tomorrow

Spring, Crafting, and Pom-Pom Bib Necklaces

So we started a new semester and things have just been flying by. It always amazes me at how fast the Spring semester always seems to go by!! I love the Spring semester for that very reason and for the fact that it seems that we have a day off, or a holiday, almost every week. For example, last week was a four day school week, this week will be just four days for the kids since Fri day is a Professional Development day, and then we get a nice long weekend since we have no school on the following Mon. due to MLK day...ahh just love me some Spring!!

Today I surprised even myself and was home by 3:30!! That almost never happens and it was really nice! I got to spend some time crafting since I decided to leave all of my school work at work. I had made myself one of the Pom-Pom Bib necklaces that I saw on one of my new favorite blogs, little miss momma. I had told my cousin about it and she wanted one as well, so thats what I did this afternoon, I made her's.
Here is a pic of me with the one I made myself, I have to say that I really love it and it was super easy to make!! Check out the link above for an awesome, easy!, tutorial on how to make your own. Yep, I did wear it twice in one week. It just went so great with what I happened to be wearing.
Besides having time to do some crafting I have also got my butt back in the gym. I signed up for Yoga/Pilates classes twice a week and I have also been spending some time with the Elliptical. So far its been a really good year!

Lots of good things going on in my life right now and I'm just enjoying them as they come. I have to say that I'm not even dreading my upcoming Birthday as much as I thought I would.
Well I have detention in the morning, yep somethings don't change. I'm hoping tomorrow I will get to post pics of the finished Brooch Necklaces that I had posted about a few post ago and I'm working on another Pom-Pom necklace in my favorite color, Green!!

My soon to be green necklace...I just Love this color!!!

Bri's Soon to be Necklace...just got to finish it up and glue on the chain. It's really a golden mustered color, not sure why it looks so golden here in the photo??

2011 To Do List

Ok, so I pondered and looked back and these are the things that I want to do this year. I have put some of the items from last year's list that I didn't complete and of course added to them. I hope that you have also decided what your goals are for this year. I call them goals because I don't like to call them resolutions, how many of us really even know the real meaning of that word? I didn't, I knew it meant to resolve to do something, but I looked it up and it means much more. Here is the Websters definition for it:
a firm decision to do or not to do something : she kept her resolution not to see Anne any more | a New Year's resolution.
• a formal expression of opinion or intention agreed on by a legislative body, committee, or other formal meeting, typically after taking a vote : the conference passed two resolutions.
• the quality of being determined or resolute
My list is a "To Do List," goals that I hope to accomplish this year, but they are things I pick and I am in no way bound to them.  So these are not New Years Resolutions and I hope that you have decided to join me. As I said in yesterday's post, I hope that you have made your own list and link it below.

Saturday, January 1, 2011

I'm pondering what I want my year to look like, what I hope to accomplish and what grand adventures I want to take. I am going to make a list, my "To Do List" for 2011. I'm going to do the things that I didn't get done in 2010 and add some more to the list. So who wants to join me and make your own "To Do List?" I plan to blog about it as I did this year, but no promises about blogging daily, but as always I will be taking pics along the way. I encourage you to sit down and ask yourself, what do I want to complete, accomplish, see, create, or experience this year??? It can be as simple as, getting organized, finishing a project thats been on hold for a while, seeing a new place, trying a new hobby, or maybe something I haven't thought of. I will be posting my list tomorrow and adding a linky button. Tomorrow's blog will be my first linky party, so I'm super excited to see who links up. So ponder a bit, figure out your "2011 To Do List" and then link up.    -Till Tomorrow
