Now thats what I call
I'm sitting here and thinking about how I need to add more discipline to my life. It is something that I am sorely lacking in and not just in one area of my life. I have not been very disciplined with my money, I hate HATE the gym and or running, I seem to do well reading my Bible for a while but then get off track, and then I tend to start things that I don't always finish. Seems it's something I'm cursed to always be working on and never quite reaching. I don't even like having to discipline my kids at school...its just not all that of an enjoyable thing for anyone. But it is something that I need to work on...so something I really need to take a look at. I have especially felt the need to get a little more disciplined lately since I have had some changes take place. First was when I started with my migraines and realized that I needed more sleep and better eating habits. Then I got on some migraine meds that made me lose ALL kinds of weight and I liked very much being in a size 2 and 4. Well, I had to get off the meds and now I've gained back a bit of the weight. I'm still in my size 4s but not my 2s :( I have also realized that it has been months since I have read my Bible on a continuos daily bases, something I'm not proud of at all!! Finally, I have a ton of art projects that I have started and have not finished, something I'm going to fix this summer.
So what do you do to keep discipline in your life?
My Dad is always saying that for something to become a habit you have to do it for at least a month. I think in the true nature of my love of list making I am going to create a list of all my unfinished projects and will make myself NOT start any new projects till my list is all checked off. I also need to start using my Bible App again so that I can have a daily Bible time. As far as the gym....well, I guess I will start doing my yoga and pilates again and watching what I am eating. Being on those meds made it where I could eat anything and everything and not gain weight...NOT a good thing to ever do because when it ends and "real" life without meds begin again it makes it even harder!!! But sadly I've always had to do a bit of weight watching so I guess its just life as usual. haha!

So I came across the cutest illustration the other day while I was cruising Pinterest (of course. What did we do pre Pinterest?) Well, the illustrations were by a Dad (Nathan Ripperger) who creates funny illustrations based on random crazy things he says to his kids in responce to some of their crazy questions or actions. Here are a few that really cracked me up:
So I thought I would do the same kind-of thing but with things I say to my students... since they are my only kids. Here are a few:
No! The X-acto knife is for your art project, not to clean your nails with.
Stop Touching Each Other!
Don't even look at them.
Don't let me even see you pretend
that they are even in this class.
No I'm not married.
No I don't need you to set me up on a date with your
Army recruiter. No I don't care that he has a job, house and works out...I still don't need you to find dates for me!
No I don't just sit at home at night and drink tea and knit.
Put that desk and the kid in it down!!!
Yea, were going to watch a musical. Yep... they will be singing. Yes, they will sing through most of the film.
No you may not
bring your pet snake to class!!
Yes, I'm sure you want your pottery to turn and spin and you want to create something that flies...but
this is just a beginner pottery class. I also understand that you are a peacock and I have to let you soar...but we're still not going to be able to create pottery that turns.
No, its not a good idea to shove a paint brush into the tip of a glue gun.
Yes, we are going to do work today. No, we're not going to have a day off just because you need a nap.
I will of course continue to add to these, as I'm sure that my kids will continue to crack me up with some of the things that they come up with.

It would seem that I have not blogged since Jan. I've been meaning to but always seem to put it off till later and then I just...don't. I have procrastinated so bad lately with all kinds of things and it seems that today is no different. I should be writing lesson plans but what a better way to spend my afternoon then procreating writing lessons plans to blog about how much I seem to be procrastinating lately...(haha! I know that was a lot of use of the work Procrastinating)
Well since my last blog post there of course has been somethings going on. I'm happy to report that I have seemed to have a burst of creativity and have been doing (and yes! Finishing) quite a few projects. I have had such great classes this semester and things have been going so smoothly that I have had time for my own art. Here are a few of the things that I have recently finished:
This is one of my favorite quotes from the movie.
Found this idea on Pinterest and since my kids were going to do this in class I thought I should do one first and see how it went. Pretty happy with the turn out.
This one I contemplated for some time because I wasn't sure how I wanted to use the antique watch faces. It's one of my favorites.
As you should be able to tell by now I love putting art and quotes together! Add another one of my Favorite things, GLITTER and its Fabulous!
As always...Pen and ink is one of my favorite mediums to work with and since my kids where doing stippling projects I thought I would create with them.
This was just me messing around in my sketch book. I saw some of these types of doodles on Pinterest and thought they looked fun.
This was a gift for my parents for their new house. (Which I am super happy to say they are finally in!!!!!)
Mom and Dad's first night in the new house! So happy for them.
Like I said my classes this semester have been AWESOME. I love love my Art 2 class and its been pure bliss to teach kids that want to be in the class, love to create, and who I just had in Art 1. I have been able to create along side them this semester and have so enjoyed that. This is one of the group projects that we did. It looks great in the library and I can't wait till we are in our new school and can have art all around the school!
This is my latest project. I'm collaging the Great Wave. Tons and tons of small pieces cut from magazines. This one may take awhile.
At the beginning of the year I started my Jar of Goodness. You can read more about it here. But the gist is that you right down all of the good things that happen on lil pieces of paper as they happen and at the end of the year you read all of the good things that happened to you for the year. As you can see from my pic of jar its been a good 3 months. I'm excited to get to the end of the year and reminisce about the great things that have taken place in 2013. After I think I'm going to put all of the small pieces of paper into my Smashbook in order by date and then I have the year journaled. I decided it would be a fun twist to my normal journaling that I do.
There have been a few other events and happenings in the past month or so. We made it through ACT testing, survived SLT's, found out some changes will be taking place next school year, I mailed off my last payment for my summer Europe trip (can't wait to spend a couple days in France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy, and had a great Spring Break. But as always with the good comes the bad. I'm sad to say that one of the bad things that happened recently was the loss of Mr. Fitz. He was killed this week.
So following the lost my lil friend I found a new lil guy that needed a home and I was happy to bring home Mr. Bingley
He is so cute!!! Love that face!
So thats what's been happening in my world. I will try and not procrastinate as much when it comes to my blogging...but I think I will procrastinate on those lesson plans a lil longer and maybe get to them after church tonight haha!!
